You will each receive a 'Film Language' pack (on the filing cabinet behind the teacher's desk).

Answer the 'Film Poster Analysis' questions (on A4 lined paper) on each of the film posters:

  1. What do you think the film is about and what might the storyline be?
  2. What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
  3. Who do you think is the target audience?

12C work for 10/5/11 + HW and Revision Tasks

Watch the following scene 3 times, taking notes. Then answer the following questions:

1. How does the extract use the conventions of a typical action adventure film?

2. How is ethnicity represented in the extract?

3. What is the appeal of the extract for the target audience? (Remember to refer to Blumer and Katz)

4. Which values and characteristics of a high budget film are evident in the extract? (Remember to refer to dominant ideology)

Now: Find an example of the following genres on you tube: Sitcom, Reality TV, Soap.

Post links to the examples on your blog. Then write and answer 4 exam style questions (1. Forms and Conventions; 2. Representation; 3. Audience; 4. Institututions) for each genre.

Make sure your cross media case study is detailed and up to date!!

How far have improvements in technology made a difference to the quality of the audience experience?

  • provide a brief outline of your case study

  • evaluate the impact of new technologies (eg red button, file-sharing, 3D) on the audience's ability to interact with and/or enjoy media products from your case study
