MEST 1 Easter Homework

Make sure you spend a minimum of FIFTEEN minutes doing MEST1 practice EVERY DAY during the Easter holiday (so a minimum of FOURTEEN timed answers).
  • Post up the embedded clip, details about the timings, and the questions you answered on your blog.
  • Either post the answers on your blog OR bring them on paper to the first lesson after the holiday (Mon 16/04) OR do a mixture of both. Always highlight/underline media terminology/theory.
  • Obviously, feel free to do more!!

  • Media Forms: What techniques does the extract use to establish the text’s genre and/or engage the audience?
  • Media Representations: How is gender/ethnicity/age/disability/sexuality/a place represented in the extract?
  • Media Institutions: In what ways is the extract typical of the film/advertising/television industry and/or what values does it promote?
  • Media Audiences: Who does this text/brand appeal to?

  • Adverts
  • Film extracts/ trailers (variety of genres)
