BBC Three is launching a new program called “Technophobes”, following the lives of five people who are afraid of technology.
Complete the following questions on your blog:
a. AUDIENCE: Who would this program appeal to? In your answer include gender, socio-economic status, psychographics and demographics
b. INSTITUTION: What assumptions can you make about this program just from knowing that it will be broadcast on BBC Three?
c. MEDIA FORMS: What kind of program are you expecting to see when it is broadcast? Include specific ideas about content, along with more broad knowledge of the codes and conventions of this genre
d. REPRESENTATION: What kind of position or opinion about these “technophobes” would you expect this documentary to project? Explain why.
f. Write a web blog review of the program (as if you have seen the first episode) commenting on one of the subjects/people in it. What kind of tone would your review take?

Super 8 Powerpoint Presentation
Create a 5 minute presentation on Super 8 for the Cross Media Case study to be delivered on Monday 12th December.
Answer the following questions in your presentation:
How are texts in the three platforms constructed?
• Are there similarities and differences in the way the area is dealt with in each platform?
• What type of media language is used and how?
• How are genre codes used?
• How do texts within the three platforms construct narrative?
How do audiences access texts across the three platforms?
• Do the texts enable different types of audience activity and/or interaction?
• Are audiences able to play a role in the construction of media texts? (UGC)
• Are there differences in the audience gratifications offered across the three platforms?
How are representations constructed and are there similarities and/or differences across the platforms?
• What values and ideologies are communicated within the representation?
What institutional issues are raised by the topic areas?
• How are institutions reacting to change in technology?
• How are institutions attempting to reach and engage their audiences?
• What economic issues are behind the construction and distribution of contemporary media texts?
Use the Significance, Structure, Simplicity, Rehearsal checklist on slide 58 of the guide about how to prevent Death by PowerPoint as this will help you produce a more interesting presentation.
Save the PowerPoint in 97-2003 format and upload to Google Docs, making it a public file (by clicking 'share' then 'publish/embed'). Then include the link to the PowerPoint on your blog.
